Orpington 1st Business Improvement District is delighted to announce the appointment of a new BID Manager.
Tyler Smith has been appointed as BID Manager effective February 10th, 2025.
Following his extensive Small Business Support and Town Centre Management experience working for the London Borough of Bexley, Tyler looks forward to delivering the Orpington 1st BID Business Plan and improving outcomes for local businesses and residents.
Tyler has big shoes to fill following his predecessor, Chris Travers, who provided invaluable support and guidance to hundreds of businesses over more than ten years since the BID’s inception.
Orpington 1st BID was established in 2013 and currently represents over 325 town centre based traders. The BID is currently in its third term.
Funded by all local businesses within the Business Improvement District, Orpington 1st BID delivers customer, retailer and visitor initiatives which benefit the local businesses community.
Businesses within Orpington’s BID boundary, which centres on the High Street and Walnuts Shopping Centre, pay approximately 1.5% of the rateable value of their premises into the Orpington 1st BID - a non-profit Limited Company which is governed by a board of local business owners and managers, under strict oversight of the London Borough of Bromley who collect and administer BID levy payments on the BID’s behalf.
The BID act independently to reinvest collected funds, supporting a range of local projects with the aim to make Orpington Better for Business.
