The Orpington 1st Calendar for 2025 is available now from Orpington Library in exchange for donations to Bromley Homeless.
The 2025 calendar features 14 high quality photographs - a stunning mix of wildlife, aerial photography, and town centre events.
A huge thank you to everyone who entered the Orpington Photography Competition 2024, selected entries to which are included in the calendar. The competition aims to celebrate the people and places of Orpington and encourages budding and more experienced photographers to look at the beauty in our surroundings.
Congratulations go Steve Sangster, whose photo taken in the summer of 2024 captures the Northern Lights above the lights of north Orpington and the Crays, with Nugent illuminated in the centre of the photo and the QE2 Bridge visible on the horizon.
Taken somewhere above Broomhill Common, looking North East, the judges felt that it captured a significant moment in the year – one which inspired a huge number of people to take photos - but they also appreciated the contrast with the residential and commercial lights at ground level, locally and further a field.
Steve's photo takes pride of place on the front of the calendar - he also wins £100 to spend in an Orpington town centre restaurant of his choice.
You can take a quick flick through the calendar above - before picking up a copy from Orpington Library. All proceeds go to local charity Bromley Homeless, so please do give generously to help them continue to carry out their important work.
