Chimps Are Family sculptures stay for another year!

Orpington’s much‑loved Chimps Are Family sculptures by internationally renowned artists Gillie and Marc will remain in the town centre for another year until July 2027, continuing to bring colour, curiosity, and conversation to our high street.

The life‑sized chimpanzee statues have become a firm favourite with families, shoppers, and visitors, offering a playful reminder of the importance of wildlife conservation. If you haven’t stopped by recently, make sure to visit them on your next trip into town, they’re part of what makes Orpington such a vibrant, welcoming place.

Alongside the sculptures, you can also enjoy a striking collection of Gillie and Marc’s oil paintings now on display inside the Orpington 1st BID office at The Walnuts Shopping Centre, directly opposite Shoe Zone. The exhibition is free to view. If the BID office is open, you’re welcome to come in and see the paintings up close. If it’s closed, you can still enjoy them through the window.

Orpington continues to grow as a destination for public art, creativity, and community life, and these pieces are here to be enjoyed by everyone. #chimpsarefamily
