Orpington Commemorates VE Day 80

In commemoration of the 80th year anniversary of VE Day, Orpington 1st installed over two hundred VE Day commemorative plaques, Tommy Poppies and Remembrance Poppies across the Town Centre.

Additionally, the BID funded the installation of six Tommy Soldier silhouette statues surrounding the War Memorial roundabout - designed to be a semi-permanent installation year-round.

BID Manager, Tyler Smith said: "The BID were delighted to support Orpington's VE Day Commemorations in this milestone 80th anniversary year. Working in partnership with the Royal British Legion Orpington Branch and local community leaders, the installation was well-received by local businesses and residents alike".
