Orpington Calendars available as competition winner announced

Following an autumn invitation to send us your shots taken anywhere in a BR5 or BR6 location, whether with a professional camera or smartphone, a winning photograph has been selected and takes pride of place on front of The Orpington 1st Calendar for 2024 - available now from Orpington Library in exchange for donations to Bromley Homeless

Congratulations to Gokhan Goksoy whose photo "Sunset on the London/Kent Gateway" (above) was picked from an impressive crop of entries. Judges liked the perfect framing and timing of the shot, which shows the Poverest area of Orpington in the foreground with key London landmarks visible on the horizon - all under a stunning sunset, highlighting Orpington's location.

Gokhan also wins £100 to spend in an Orpington town centre restaurant of his choice.

A huge thank you to everyone who entered the Orpington Photography Competition 2023 - which aims to celebrate the people and places of Orpington and encourages budding and more experienced photographers to look at the beauty in our surroundings. Entries evidenced an abundance of residents looking positively at their environment, and once again, the importance of green spaces was a clear theme.

The 2024 calendar features 14 high quality photographs - a stunning mix of wildlife, aerial photography, residents enjoying public spaces, and town centre events.

The suggested minimum donation is £5 but please give what you can to help this charity carry out its vital work.
