Coronation Competition - Best Decorated Shop Front

On Saturday 6th May, the coronation of King Charles III will be screened in Market Square Orpington, organised by Orpington 1st and supported by Perrys, Chantler Kent, and McDonald's Orpington. Ahead of the bank holiday weekend, we'll be decorating our town centre red, white, and blue.

Bromley council is encouraging businesses across the borough to join in festivities by creating a celebratory shop window.

The best decorated shop front competition will open after the Easter holidays on 13 April with residents invited to make nominations at www.bromley.gov.uk/Coronation by sending their photographs. The Mayor of Bromley will then announce the winner in a visit to the successful business on Friday 5 May to kick off the Coronation bank holiday celebrations.

Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing said: “While I know many will be celebrating in their communities for the Coronation, this initiative will bring the festive spirit to our local high streets as well. I hope businesses will go all out to provide some marvellous shop front displays as they did for the Jubilee last year, which will further build on our BIDs' plans to brighten our town centres for the occasion.”
