London Biggin Hill Airport is delighted to confirm that it is now the principal sponsor of Bromley Rugby Club’s new Girls’ Section. Rugby is one of the fastest growing female sports in the UK and is seeing a surge in interest from professional to grassroots level.
As principal sponsor, the airport will be supporting Bromley Rugby Club’s vision for all female players to have equal opportunities to their male counterparts as they progress through age-grade rugby and beyond.
The club launched their first Girls’ Action Plan in September 2023, which aims to increase participation not only of girls playing throughout the club but also for women who want to be involved in coaching and volunteering roles over the next five seasons.
Hannah Gray, Community Manager at London Biggin Hill Airport, said, “We are excited to join forces with Bromley Rugby Club to support their ambitious plans to champion girls’ rugby within our borough. We are passionate about supporting local causes which benefit local people and ensuring that our neighbours feel the benefit of our airport.
“This latest partnership is part of our ongoing commitment to promoting equal opportunities for women and girls, of every age and background, across Bromley, whether that is within the world of aerospace and engineering, or on the pitch.”
Kevin Holland, Commercial Director at Bromley Rugby Club, said, “We are thrilled that London Biggin Hill Airport has become the principal sponsor for our Girls’ Section. It is certain that we both share the same ambition, which is to provide more opportunities for women and girls in our respective fields. We look forward to evolving our relationship and continuing to drive positive engagement in the delivery of our Girls’ Action Plan.”
London Biggin Hill Airport is proud to be part of the Bromley community, and its Community Fund supports a range of partnerships and initiatives with local charities and organisations, totalling £98,000 since 2015.
The airport is also the lead partner for the Bromley Football Club Community Sports Trust’s Women & Girls’ Community Provision. The initiative, launched in 2022, aims to increase female participation in football within the Bromley community.
