Orpington care home flies the rainbow flag

A care home in Orpington held a very special celebration to mark their first LGBTQIA+ Pride event.

Care UK’s Foxbridge House, on Sevenoaks Road, hosted a rainbow-themed party with two local drag queens to join in with Pride celebrations taking place across Kent.

On the day, residents were greeted by the fabulous duo, Anita Wee and Delilah Tickles, two local drag queens who danced their way into the lounge for a musical performance of iconic LGBTQ anthems from across the decades.

Keen to ensure the stage was set for such performing royalty, the Foxbridge House team decorated the home’s lounge with Pride flags, balloons and inclusivity messages.

Stella Barnes, Home Manager at Foxbridge House, said: “Here at Foxbridge House, we are committed to ensuring the home is a welcoming and supportive place for everyone, which is why we were delighted to be able to show our support with a special Pride celebration with Orpington’s most famous – and fabulous – drag duo.

“Regardless of how old or young we are, it’s important that we celebrate our differences and promote living in a society where everyone is free to be who they want to be.

“Pride offers the perfect opportunity to learn more about the history of the LGBTQIA+ community and it was fantastic to decorate the home with all colours of the rainbow in preparation for the celebration. We were very lucky to have the sun shining too, which only added to the vibrancy, glitter and glamour of the day!

“We’re already looking forward to getting our rainbow flags out again soon for our next event.”
