Orpington says goodbye to much loved "Mr Orpington" Al Hussein.

Lifetime Orpington resident Al Hussein has sadly passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Today, friends, family, and countless familiar faces from around the town came together to celebrate his life and the impact he had on so many.

Al was a well‑known and much‑loved figure in Orpington,  often spotted riding through the high street on his classic 1960s Lambretta or enjoying a quiet coffee in Costa. His presence was part of the town’s everyday rhythm, and it’s no surprise that so many people gathered to honour him, share memories, and pay their respects.

Those who knew him remember not just the man on the scooter, but the kindness, humour, and warmth he brought with him wherever he went. His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit remains woven into the community he called home. The scooters did a ceremonial ride through the High  St before heading off to The Buff to celerate Al’s life.
