Serious Incident - Police Cordon


UPDATE - The police cordon was lifted at 13.30 on 30th June.


Met Police have provided the following information on the serious incident which occurred last night outside Premier Inn Orpington.

"On Wednesday 28th June 2023 at approximately 2330 hours police were called by the London Ambulance Service in relation to a stabbing outside the Premier Inn, Orpington. Two adult males were found stabbed at the location, one is in a critical condition and the other has non-life threatening injuries. A crime scene remains in place at the location as officers continue to carry out enquiries. Two girls, both aged 17, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and are currently in police custody."

As of 12.30pm on 30th June a police cordon remains in place which prevents access from the high street to The Walnuts' Crown House (ODEON building) and several businesses are currently closed - Premier Inn, Frances Chappel, Liberty's, Mooboo Bubble Tea, Polish Me Nail Bar, Mobile City, Walnuts Cobblers, Simply Sushi, A Time for Flowers, Taste of Turkish.

All other businesses in The Walnuts are open as usual and accessible through the north entrance (by Peacocks), via Lych Gate Road (between the college and the leisure centre), via Homefield Rise (between the Wellbeing Centre and Sainsbury's), or via the Walnuts' multi storey car park.
